Work and training
An effective job search combines a targeted résumé, tracked applications, and conversations with people in the field.
Prepare your application
- Keep a clean résumé to two pages or less, without a photo, age, marital status, or social insurance number.
- Tailor the summary and achievements to each posting’s keywords; quantify results where possible.
- Prepare a short account of your experience and examples using the situation–task–action–result method.
Find opportunities
- Use Job Bank for vacancies, wage trends, and occupational requirements.
- ALIS helps compare Alberta careers and training. Alberta Supports connects you with local employment services.
- Confirm that an institution and program are recognized before paying for training.

A legitimate employer does not charge a fee to hire you or send a cheque and ask you to return part of it.
